Description

The quasar pair SDSS J2214+1326A and B have a z redshift of 2.0 but are not a lensed pair. Double or paired quasars are interesting as probes of the large scale quasar environment from the time when the universe was about ten billion years old (distance is about 15 billion light years). This pair has a projected separation of about 51 kiloparsecs, which indicates they are (were) likely an interacting pair. They are at mag g*=20.4 (V magnitude around 20.0). These are part of the Astronomical League AGN observer's list.

I imaged these with a Meade 10" f/10 SCT, ZWO ASI6200 mono camera set to 100 gain, binned x 4, 120sec x 10 images, 1 dark only, no flats, unguided. I'm showing here the solved image from Astrometrica which I used to confirm the location and also estimate the brightness of each quasar (I get Gaia G=19.8 and 20.4)
